There will be a Public Hearing on Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at 5:30 pm at the Town Office for the purpose of reviewing the General Assistance Ordinance. The regular Select Board Meeting will follow at 6 pm.

This Public Hearing will be to answer any questions related  to the adoption of a General Assistance (GA) Ordinance. The General Assistance (GA) program in Maine is administered by each municipality in order to provide immediate help to eligible people who do not have enough money for basic needs, such as rent/mortgage, food, heating fuel, medications, non-elective medical care and other items that are essential to maintain themselves or their families. A vote will be taken at the Select Board meeting that follows at 6:00pm.  Maine’s DHHS auditors require municipalities to demonstrate the possession of a copy of their current municipal GA Ordinance.  A copy of the GA Ordinance can be viewed at the Town Office, or downloaded here.
