Warrant for Special Town Meeting

To Patricia Patnaude, Constable of the Town of Sweden, County of Oxford, State of Maine, GREETINGS: In the name of the State of Maine, you are hereby required to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Sweden in said county, qualified to vote in Town affairs, to meet at the Town of Sweden Meeting House, in Sweden, on Saturday, the 15th day of August AD 2020 at nine o’clock in the morning, then and there to act on the following articles to wit:

Meeting to open at 9 AM with pledge

Article 1: To choose a moderator to preside at said meeting. Town Clerk to call for nominations for moderator. Vote for moderator. Moderator to be sworn in.

Article 2: Elect Town Officers
Selectman, Assessor, and Overseer of the Poor (term ending March 2021).
Selectman, Assessor, and Overseer of the Poor (term ending March 2022).

Given under our hands this August 6th, 2020 by R. David Frum (Selectman of Sweden). Attested by Patricia Porter (original warrant on file at Town Office and posted outside the Town Office and the Town Meeting House.

Town Office Open by Appointment Only

The Town Office is open by appointment only. The following protections have been implemented for the safety of the Town employees, residents and visitors:

Face coverings/masks are respectfully REQUIRED for entrance to the Town Office.

Sneeze Guards have been installed.

Employee only areas have been clearly marked with boundaries.

Hand sanitizer will be available for use by all visitors and has been supplied to Office staff.

Surfaces are sanitized between each customer served and at the beginning and end of each day.

The Office hours are as follows by appointment only:

Tuesday 10am-6pm and Code Enforcement 3pm-5pm by appointment only

Thursday 12pm-6pm by appointment only

Saturday 9am-noon by appointment only please note: the Office is closed on the 5th Saturday of the month and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays are not available for vehicle registrations of any kind due to unavailable training for staff due to COVID-19.

Please ensure you have mileage, valid insurance, bill of sale, title and any other documents that may be needed at the time of the appointment for vehicle registrations.

****PLEASE NOTE: When making an appointment please indicate ALL needs desired in order for staff to provide the appropriate time allotment for the appointment. If you arrive at the Town Office with other needs other than what were listed at the time of the appointment, the staff may ask you to make an additional appointment for those needs. Each appointment is for one resident only, an additional friend or family member would need an additional appointment to provide for the correct time allotment.

Locked Drop Box

The Town of Sweden now has a new locked drop box located at the Town Office. This box may be utilized for tax payments, building permit applications and fees and any other documents for Town Office personnel. The box will be checked daily Monday through Saturday. If you require a receipt for tax payments, please include a self addressed stamped envelope with your payment. Thank you.

Sweden Food Pantry

The Sweden Food Pantry is its own 501(c)3 for the benefit of people from Sweden, Fryeburg, Lovell, Waterford, Stoneham, Stow, and Albany Township however, anyone in need of food is welcomed.

The food pantry provides food on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
