Fire Station Updates

GRANT UPDATE

The Town of Sweden made a request of Susan Collins for funding to build a new fire station to replace our existing outdated facility.  We were recently informed that $1,150,000 has been included for this request in the fiscal year 2024 Transportation, Housing, and Urban Development Appropriations bill recently approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee.

Although there are several more steps in the process before any appropriations bills are finalized and sent to the President for signature, including reconciling differences between the House of Representatives and Senate versions of bills and passage of the bills by both chambers of Congress, Ms. Collins, as Vice Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee, informs us that she will continue to use her position to advocate for investments that will improve Maine’s communities and it is her hope that Congress will work in a bipartisan manner to complete these steps expeditiously.

PLANS

The town has received plans for the fire station, and expects to be putting the project out to bid in October of 2023. Elevations and site plans are available below (click on the image to view in a larger format).
