FAQs
What documents do I need to register my vehicle?
For cars, trucks, or motorcycles, bring proof of insurance and odometer reading (mileage), also a bill of sale and title if this is a new registration. Also bring a check payable to “Town of Sweden”, as at this time the Town Office does not accept credit cards.
What do I need to register my boat?
If new, bring proof of sales tax paid, age of boat, horsepower, and boat length. The excise tax and registration fees are based on horsepower, length, and age of boat. Bring a check as the Town Office does not accept credit cards. Registration is not required for canoes or non-motorized row boats.
Do I need to register an ATV or snowmobile?
Yes, this is required. If new, bring proof of sales tax paid; there is no yearly excise tax. Bring a check as the Town Office does not accept credit cards. New registrations must be done at the Town Office, renewals can be done online.
What do I need to register my dog?
Bring proof of rabies vaccination for new and renewed registrations, and proof of spaying or neutering for first time registration. Also bring a check or cash, as the Town Office does not accept credit cards. Renewals can be done online.
What do I need from the Town to register my child for school?
To enroll your child in the MSAD 72 school district, you must show proof of residency with a Residency Affidavit or Letter from the Sweden Town Clerk (read more about that here and here).
